Book Description:
After losing her mother, Regina Holler moves to a small town with her estranged Aunt Liddy.
In between making soap and learning about her peculiar family history, Regina stumbles across two brothers with problems of their own.
Jason and Landon swear that the woods she wanders through aren’t haunted, but it seems the ghosts of Regina’s past are set on colliding with the ghosts of Falken’s Woods.
Interview:
1. What inspired you to write this book?
I saw a commercial for a TV show. There was just this cottage covered in wildflowers. I imagined that some old witch would live there even though I still don't know what show the commercial was for. That's where I originally came up with the idea.
2. What characters do you connect with most?
I think I'm the most like Landon. We're both very shy. I'm soft-spoken and get nervous around large groups of people.
3. What's your favorite book-turned movie?
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was great as both. I've always been a fan of the series.
4. If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?
It would have to be Liddy. She has a level head and always shares bits of advice when it's needed. She never forces her opinion on Regina, though.
5. Can you tell us about any other books you're writing?
My current project is more based in Mythology. It's a story about the Fates and other mythical creatures. I'm pretty excited about it!
6. What do you do in your spare time?
I read. A lot. I also volunteer with a group who supports our troops called Soldiers' Angels. I love my garden when it's warm enough. Usually, I just chase the kids around.
7. Who's your inspiration?
There are so many! My favorite YA authors are Christopher Pike and L.J. Smith. My parents couldn't keep up with my reading addiction back then! My sister, Robin, was writing even back before I could read and my step-mom is a retired English teacher. I think they all affected my love of books and writing.
8. If you were stranded on a desert island which character do you want by your side?
I think I'd pick Jason. He loves nature and wants to live in the wilderness, so I'd bet that he would have a good idea of how to survive. The fact that he's good-looking doesn't hurt, either!
9. Team Edward or Jacob?
Definitely Team Edward!
10. Team Peeta or Gale?
Team Gale
11. What are you reading now?
I just finished with my first book signing. Authors Madeline Freeman and Mary Twomey were with me and I had to buy a copy of their books. I started Mary Twomey's Silence of Lir last night and, so far, I'm hooked! I'll probably buy the rest of the series tomorrow!
