Synopsis:
All’s fair in love and war.
Two thirds of the world's population has been wiped out, devastated by the worst war earth has ever seen. Still standing amongst the ruins is a mind reader who finds herself on the wrong side of the war. Everyone does what they must to survive. When the rebels bent on bringing down the New World leader start to rise up, it is her job to make sure they stay down where they belong. That is, until one rebel sneaks past her defences and into her heart. Love will blossom from the ashes, but will it be enough to save them, or will it mean the end of them both?
Author Interview:
1. What inspired you to write this book?
I love reading dystopian novels so I’ve wanted to write one myself for a while now. As much as I love the worlds and the idea of things being drastically different from what our society is like today, I didn’t want the sole focus of the story to be on the world itself. I wanted it to be more in the background and make the forefront on the characters and how they adapt to the changes. Finding love and hope in a tragic time shows the strength and perseverance of humans despite the obstacles they need to overcome.
2. What characters do you connect with most?
In Switch, to be honest I’d probably be more like Bridgette, in the sense that I’m the type of person to want to avoid conflict and just keep my head down. I’d definitely be more focused on adapting to the new world and making my way in it, rather than looking to change things. I admire Charlotte the most because of her strength and all that she does to survive, but I know if it were me in the story I wouldn’t be nearly as kick-ass as her lol
3. What's your favorite book-turned movie?
Out of the recent ones I’d have to say the Hunger Games. Honestly, I thought they did a fantastic job with it and I’m really looking forward to the next. I’m also excited to see City of Bones as a movie. Hopefully they’ll be able to do it justice. I’m still a firm believer that the movie is never as good as the book.
4. If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?
Probably Logan from the Eden Series, because he’s funny, charming, and extremely loyal. It’s always good to have someone around who can pick you up when you’re down.
5. Can you tell us about any other books you're writing?
Right now I’m in the middle of editing the last book in my YA Fantasy series, Eden. I have the next New World books to write as well, but I haven’t started them. Each book will focus on one of the boys, who you will meet in Switch. Each boy will have their own love story with the same continuing theme in the background. Roman and Bridgette are next so I’ll start that soon. I also have another YA Fantasy to write that is a spin-off of Eden. Lots to do and never enough time!
6. What do you do in your spare time?
What spare time? Lol just kidding. Actually I’m not lol With two kids and a million things on my plate I don’t have much time left, but at the end of the night when they’re in bed and I’m beat, I like to sit down and watch an episode of whatever series my husband and I are watching. Right now it’s Breaking Bad, so I like to relax and enjoy a quick episode before bed.
7. Who's your inspiration?
I don’t think I have one person who inspires me. I get inspired from lots of people, whether it be those close to me or people I read about in the media.
8. If you were stranded on a desert island which character do you want by your side?
Jericho Barrons from the Fever Series. He’d either find a way to get us off the island, or I’d just be stuck there with him, which is fiiine by me ;)
9. Team Edward or Jacob?
Edward!
10. Team Peeta or Gale?
Gale!
11. What are you reading now?
I just read Going Under by S. Walden which was fantastic. I’m not actually reading anything at the moment, but I will be starting Joe by H.D. Gordon shortly!
