Meg Calloway is at the edge.

Reeling from her parents' sudden divorce, fifteen-year old Meg has never felt more alone. Her father is about to marry a woman she can't stand and her mother's only companion is an endless supply of alcohol. When Aidan Westwood, an older boy at school, shows interest in her, she grabs on and doesn't let go, thinking he's exactly what she needs to help stem her loneliness and despair. She quickly learns that Aidan lives a darker, more dangerous life than she does and the more isolated she feels from her family, the more willing she is to step into Aidan's world.

As Meg drifts further from her friends, she tries to find comfort with a boy who is opening her eyes up to new things, none of them good. Will she listen to those around her who are warning her that she's headed down a path of self-destruction?

Or will she fall too far...too fast...too deep?

Anna's favorite summer activites

Summer. I love summer.

Unfortunately, where I live, summer is one of our 'questionable' seasons. Like, we're never sure when it's gonna come...or how long it's gonna last.

I live in the frozen tundra. Minnesota. Just north of Minneapolis, more central MN than southern, where winter can start as early as September and last as long as May. (Seriously. Our two snowiest months “this winter” were April and May).

So, when I think about summer activities, I think about all of the stuff we try to cram in to those few weeks when the sun tries to pull all-nighters and the fireflies dance and ice cream melts faster than you can lick it.

Summer for me is grilling and making lemonade and watching watermelon juice drip off my seven year old's chin. Marveling at the lilies that overtake my yard, a burst of oranges and pinks and yellows, so vibrant and bright that every person who drives by stops to marvel at them.

Summer is a 4th of July filled with fireworks and pancake breakfasts, parades and late-night DJ dances at our lake resort.

Summer is the county fair – endless hours in the 4-H building and the animal barns, people-watching on the bench with a boat of cheese curds in one hand and an old fashioned malt in the other.

Summer is the lake – flying across the water in the boat, the wind whipping through our hair. Dropping anchor at sixty feet and flipping off the front of the boat, and later, hooking up the tube and tearing across the water, watching my kids bounce on the waves, their shrieks of joy louder than the gulls squawking overhead.

Summer is road trips. Some planned, some not. Visiting familiar places and discovering new gems.

Summer is baseball and soccer and swatting mosquitos as we soak up every minute of outdoor warmth before the sun turns it down a notch and the wind blows cool, a hint of the next season lurking on the horizon.

Summer is magical and marvelous and absolutely never long enough.

This looks really good and I absolutely love the cover!!!

Sounds almost like a biography! And I suppose it is, for a lot of people. Especially at that age, in that situation.
