About the Author:

Ruthi Kight currently lives in her hometown of Columbia, SC, with her fiancé and five year old daughter. She has an unhealthy addiction to books, music, and chocolate, but not necessarily in that order. When her dream of being a rock star didn't work out, she focused on her other passion: writing. She is the author of Knotted Roots, a YA Coming of Age story, and is currently working on two other novels that are due out this year.

Question: What's your favorite autumn activity?

In our family, Halloween is what we look forward to the most when Autumn finally rolls around. Sure, the crisp, cool air and the falling leaves are nice too, but each day that brings us closer to Halloween makes us giddy with excitement!  You know those yards that have way too many decorations up? The ones that are gaudy and tacky, but oh so much fun? Yep, that’s us right there! I spend way too much time at Hobby Lobby getting decorations, and even more time putting them up all over the place.

Cobwebs abound in our trees, orange lights are sprinkled throughout our bushes, and our front doors are both covered in those plastic covers that yell “Boo!” or “Happy Halloween!”. The inside...oh man! That’s even more fun! Fake spiders are littered everywhere, as well as pictures, and tabletop decorations. And the lovely smell of pumpkin Scentsy reigns supreme! It’s an affair our entire family gets into and we absolutely love it.

Of course, having a five year old (almost six, she won’t let me forget that!) means that costumes, candy, and custom cupcakes are strewn throughout the house as well. She gets geared up for her favorite holiday by spending five or six hours in Halloween Express, picking out the best costume they have. This year, she swears she’s going to be a werewolf. She tried it last year, but the mask freaked her out. Fingers crossed that this year it will work out for her!

So, of course we love the weather cooling off and the longer days, but the one activity that lights our souls on fire? Halloween and all things spooky!
