Summary:
What is it about heroes like Superman, Iron Man or Thor that revs our engines like no other? Is it the suit? The manly physique? Or is it the courage they display, wading in where others fear to go, to save the damsel, the city, the Earth? Are there real-life heroes who inspire the same lustful fascination? Kickass iconic heroes who enter danger zones in the name of duty, honor, country—or maybe love—who conjure images of hard, chiseled bodies, deadly glares and camouflaged features?

High Octane Heroes will satisfy the reader who craves the romantic idea of that “super alpha” man. Imagine the Navy SEAL sent on a suicide mission; the damaged Army Ranger home from war; the para rescue team member jumping into frigid waters; a SWAT team member entering a human trafficker’s den… military members and based in far-flung places around the world or the smoke-jumper living next door. Then imagine the romantic possibilities of being held against that massively muscled chest by a man whose mission is to protect and serve…

Excerpt:

Mickey glanced at the time on his dashboard, as he slid behind the wheel of his car. “Shit.” He’d missed his after-work drinks date with Madelaine. Again.

He checked his cell. No messages. His spoiled, over-sexed girlfriend warned if he was late one more time, she’d be done with him. With her looks, men offered to crawl through glass to sleep with her. She’d made it clear Mickey could be easily replaced. One stiff cock was as good as another, as far as she was concerned. It would take her all of about five minutes to finish sulking and find a new guy. Maybe two, in ten.

He called her anyway, but Madelaine refused to answer. Mickey swore. He’d miss the luscious mouth that drank him in, slow and steady, like velvet whiskey. And her ass. He’d surely miss that.

His cell phone went dark.

Without a shadow of doubt, Mickey knew he’d just been dumped.

About the author:

Adele Dubois is a multi-published, award-winning author of erotic romance. Before turning to fiction, Adele wrote for newspapers and magazines in the USA, Caribbean and UK.

Adele and her real life Navy hero husband enjoy their eastern Pennsylvania home where she is working on her next novel. NATURAL APPETITES by Adele Dubois

Interview:

1. What inspired you to write this book?
Like most women, I love stories featuring sexy alpha males. When Delilah Devlin released the call for submissions for HIGH OCTANE HEROES, my adrenaline was still pumping from writing “Hook Me Up” for SMOKIN’ HOT FIREMEN.  “Natural Appetites” is a standalone sequel about a first responder from the same firehouse.

2. What characters do you connect with most?
I love the heroine in my story. She’s earthy, approachable, capable, and uniquely beautiful. There’s nothing cookie cutter about her.

3. What's your favorite book-turned movie?
I should probably choose something scholarly like To Kill a Mockingbird or Memoirs of a Geisha. To be honest, though, my favorite is Harry Potter. The world building is brilliant. After reading the books it was fun to enjoy the stories all over again in films. Ironically, I’m the one in my family who became the Harry Potter fan, not my kids.

4. If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?
I’d like to be BFFs with my “Natural Appetites” heroine. When you read the story, you’ll understand why.

5. Can you tell us about any other books you're writing?

I’m always writing stories and submitting. This year, I’m also making my debut with an alternate pen name for my first fun and flirty contemporary romance. SANTA TO THE RESCUE, a firefighter romance novella, will release on November 11, 2013.

6. What do you do in your spare time?
I’ve always been a bookworm. When I’m not reading, I watch TV or movies. I especially like TV police procedurals and spy dramas. My movie preference is action and adventure. My reading tastes are eclectic. I enjoy stories from Young Adult to Erotic Romance, and genres from contemporary romance to thrillers and mysteries.

7. If you were stranded on a desert island which character do you want by your side?
A handsome survivalist, of course! A first responder type.

8. What are you reading now?
The HIGH OCTANE HEROES anthology. It’s fun to read the stories written by the other authors in the collection. Until the book came out, I had no idea what types of stories the other writers contributed. I have great admiration for all the authors in the book and am thrilled to be part of the project.

I think a True Alpha Hero is someone who will love and protect you no matter who or what you are bibbiesparks@yahoo.com

Love the sound of this book! Added to my wish list...love finding new to me authors!

I think a True Alpha Hero is someone who will protect others at any cost. They worry the most about keeping others safe, especially those they love. (jagclub_50@hotmail.com)

I think a true alpha hero oozes confidence and self-assurance. He takes control and gets things done, a natural leader. He doesn't take crap from anyone, and he puts others first.

IMO a true alpha hero is not only strong and fearless, but true to the needs of his woman.

Thanks, too, for all the reader comments. I'm happy to meet you! Keep the comments coming!

A true alpha hero is someone who is strong enough to endure any trials... but sensitive enough to admit it's not as easy as he's making it look.

I'd say a true alpha protects those he loves, first and foremost!

A true alpha hero, Adele? Someone who will step up and take charge when necessary, who will do all in his power to care for and protect those less able, who uses his smarts/strength/etc. for good :)

An alpha hero is someone who is protective and loving. Thanks for sharing High Octane and the giveaway. Sounds like a great book by great authors. evamillien at gmail dot com

We LOVE our Alpha Heroes in Romance and Erotica, don't we? They're strong, dominant, brave, protective, self-sacrificing, cocky, arrogant, buff, reckless, stoic...That's why we love them!

A true alpha hero is someone who is fiercely loyal, protective, loving, compassionate, and bad-ass all in one!

ChaoticKarma23 at gmail dot com

My definition of an alpha hero is one who takes charge, commands with wisdom and strength, takes responsibility for his actions and for the people in his care, doesn't second-guess himself or spend any time worrying what others think of him. The best things about alpha males is watching them get felled by love; suddenly this person who has all the answers and always knows what to do can become lost and feel incomplete. It's wonderful to watch them grow.

Nice interview, by the way. Thanks for the chance to win!

A true alpha hero is charming, confident and persistent in the pursuit of his goals.

Thanks for the giveaway! A true alpha hero is strong, protective but loving at the same time, wants to take care of the ones he loves, sexy, confident, makes his woman stronger and more confident just by being himself.

True alpha hero, true alpha hero. Is there false alpha heroes? I suppose my definition would be a hero leader type who is strong and capable. Simple really. Someone who can take over a situation with ease.

Thank you for the giveaway! My definition of a true alpha hero is brave, confidant, caring, and smart. :^D

A true alpha hero is one who steps up and does the hard thing fearlessly, regardless of the consequences, just because it is right.

A true alpha hero isn't afraid to do what's right, even when it's not easy.
